Evento Globale: soliarietà a Soni Sori

• • Dalle 28 febbraio alle ore 7.00 alle 20 giugno alle ore 10.00 in UTC è stato lanciato attraverso facebook un evento globale per sostenere Soni Sori, imprigionata ingiustamente e brutalmente torturata. • We write this postcard to Soni Sori, an Adivasi school teacher from the state of Chattisgarh in India who has been languishing in the jail since 2011 on charges of being a maoist supporter. Her real crime was her courage. Her courage to rise in defence of her community against the interests of the Chattisgarh state and big mining corporations. And she stood tall in the prison too. When she was stripped naked she launched a hunger strike; when stones were thrust into her rectum she wrote to the Indian Supreme Court; when all was done to crush her spirits she stood tall and called on the conscience of the world outside. Soni Sori has become symbolic of state and systemic violence. Her experience of a) emotional, mental, physical, sexual abuse while in the state custody; b) the shrewd and brutal procedures that were applied to fabricate her and keep her imprisoned; c) the brutality of a patriarchal state and society over a woman who dared to speak truth to the powers; d) the media and public alienation for victims of state violence, are all representative of a deeper malaise in our global society. Hence, we need to rise from all parts of the world in her defence. We Rise with empathy, with affinity and in solidarity!!! And we write to her. One billion rising for Soni Sori calls upon the global citizens to send her a postcard, expressing your solidarity and support for her struggle and to tell her that like her you would stand tall against all domination, oppression and injustices.
